In the beginning…

I created Word Facts after a conversation on a NYC public bus, when a friend told me to “shut up about linguistics” after apparently not wishing to indulge in the fun-facts about language I so enjoyed. I set up a Facebook page thereafter to reach out to likeminded people.

In that time, I attended seminars held by the Columbia School Linguistics Society, did a summer course at Hunter College, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics (with German) at the University of York.

Word Facts has been posting blogs daily for 10 years—now back after a 2 year hiatus—but is always expanding, first to Blogger, then Youtube and Patreon, to now WordFacts.org. Not only will this hopefully bring people together over a common interest, but now with the all-new features and formats for fans, Word Facts is going in a positive direction. As my own journey continues, I hope you decide to join along too.
