367: Sit Set and Seat Dec 10, 2015

The verbs 'sit' 'set' and 'seat' are all very similar. Although this rule is often violated, 'set' is an transitive verb while 'sit' is an intransitive verb. 'Seat' comes in handy when a speaker wants to express the action of sitting in a transitive way. That is why a man throwing a dinner party may set a table, seat his guests, and then sit himself down.
